I was listening to BBC Sounds this morning and learned something I wish I’d heard earlier. Ah, well.
The ancient Greeks had two words for time; ‘Chronos’ and ‘Kairos’. Chronos refers to time passing, a quantitative measure, and Kairos to a special event, or the perfect time, a qualitative aspect of time.
However, Georges Perec encourages us to observe the mundane details of our everyday lives since they form the largest part of our lives and shouldn’t be overlooked. I wonder do the Greeks have a word for this? They must.
I walk in the local woods and beaches every day and record some images and I’m now looking at them in a different way.
